Major UK agronomy company with a growing soil health programme. Host of Project Lamport an important trial site in Northamptonshire studying blackgrass control, cover crops, compaction, and soil health under different establishment systems.
Project Lamport
- Location: Northamptonshire (former airfield site)
- Hosted by Craig Morgan and Niall Atkinson
- Key finding: >£130/ha on chemical blackgrass control in conventional system still produced 500+ heads/m², but change of system + cropping reduced to ~1/m² with minimal herbicide
- David Purdy’s extensive replicated trials: 15 parameters measured across cultivation and cover crop treatments
- Philip Wright: strategic tine intervention to improve soil structure, sometimes combined with cover crops
BASE UK visit (Issue 6): “The value of my BASE-UK subscription returned in a single visit” — one attendee.
Soil Health Programme
Agrovista has developed a practical soil health advisory service — “practical solutions to unlock your soil’s full potential” covering soil structure, chemistry, and biology.
